Better Choices Better Health - Ke Ola Pono

  • Over 3,223 individuals across the state have participated in Better Choices Better Health. 

  • In Hawai‘i, the average age of participants is 69 years old. 

  • 25% Filipino, 24% White, 23% Hawaiian, and 19% Japanese 

  • Past participants include: 47% have high blood pressure, 40% have arthritis, 36% have diabetes, and 12% have cancer. 

  • Diabetes-specific and cancer-specific programs are available.

  • 1,873 older adults served.

  • More than half (66%) of them are 70-89 years old.

  • 47% White, 29% Japanese, 13% Filipino, and 8% Hawaiian

  • Many participants have chronic conditions; 39% have arthritis, 35% have high blood pressure, and 19% have diabetes.
